Left below is Poynter's Vision of Endymion. The Moon goddess Selene fell deeply in love with the shepherd Endymion whom she seduced
and kissed to sleep every night, a metaphor for moonlight falling on the earth. They bore 50 daughters together. Wanting to be with him forever,
Selene begged Zeus to give Endymion eternal life, but instead Zeus caused him to sleep forever without aging. Below right is Johfra Bosschart's
