Jupiter opposed Ascendant

You were born as the planet Jupiter set in the west. Depending on its exactness, this could be one of the more significant aspects in your chart. Any planet conjunct one of the four angles is significant, and when that planet symbolizes expansion, journeys, wisdom, philosophy, religion and truth, it is very significant indeed. "Jupiter opposed the ascendant" is the same as Jupiter conjunct the descendant or seventh house cusp, and it is from the latter perspective that this aspect will be interpreted.

The descendant is a symbolic condensation point for what we don't identify with in ourselves and therefore project onto or seek out in others or through intimate relationships. With this placement of Jupiter you need intimate one-to-one relationships in which to be expansive and to explore and develop your faith and philosophy of life. Your partners also make excellent traveling companions with this placement of Jupiter.

You're very sociable, good-natured, optimistic, cooperative and helpful, attracting many benefits through partners and relationships. You may have multiple marriages, or marry someone for whom this is true. If Jupiter is in hard aspect to Mars, Saturn, Uranus or Pluto (or in Gemini, Capricorn or Virgo), however, you may have a tendency towards self-centeredness and expecting too much from relationships.

Famous people with a relatively strong (orb < 3) Jupiter opposed ascendant are/were Louisa May Alcott, Frank Borman (astronaut), Benjamin Britten, Pat Buchanan, Julia Child, Richard Dreyfuss, Peter Gabriel, Jessica Lange, Edouard Manet, Charles Manson, Bette Midler, Tatum O'Neal, Knute Rockne, Erik Satie, Meryl Streep and Jonathan Winters.

When Jupiter is conjunct  the descendant it can be in either the sixth or the seventh house. A sixth-house Jupiter within 3-4 of the descendant is on the "dark side" of the seventh house and expresses itself through both the sixth and the seventh houses. When a sixth-house Jupiter is within 3 the descendant, it starts to express itself more through the seventh house than through the sixth; when it is less than about 1-1 from the descendant, a sixth-house Jupiter should be interpreted as being essentially in the seventh house. This dark side principle is true of all 10 planets on the dark side of all four angles.
